About Me

Hi, I’m Mizuki, a remedial massage therapist with a strong interest in understanding how the body works as a whole. I’m passionate about learning how different body systems interact so I can assess clients accurately and tailor each treatment to their individual needs. My goal is to support long-term, holistic health outcomes – not just short-term relief.

Before becoming a massage therapist, I worked in a variety of roles including ski instructor, reporter, editor of a music instrument industry magazine, web writer, and hospitality worker. These experiences helped shape my communication skills and my ability to connect with people from all walks of life.

Outside of work, skiing has been a lifelong passion of mine. I’ve been skiing since I was three years old and competed in alpine ski racing during high school, before moving into ski instruction. I also enjoy listening to rock and electronic music and spending time in the garden growing my own vegetables.

I was drawn to massage therapy through a long-standing interest in human anatomy and healthcare. Having experienced postural imbalances myself – and seeing how common they are in others – I wanted to work in a field where I could genuinely help people feel better in their bodies. After moving to Australia, massage felt like the ideal way to combine my interests with meaningful, hands-on care.

What do I love about Massage?

What I love most about massage is that it offers a natural and holistic way to support the body. Without relying on medication or invasive methods, massage can reduce discomfort, improve mobility, and help you feel more balanced in everyday life. I value the connection I build with my clients and feel privileged to support their wellbeing through hands-on care.
Brisbane Massage Reviews for Makira
Rated 5 out of 5
I went to Knead for the first time today for a remedial massage. When I walked in Makira had already read my online medical history, she asked a series of follow up questions then got stuck into the massage. I had the 60 minutes and felt wonderful afterwards. Definitely going back.

What are treatments like with Makira?

Coming from a dance background, Makira graduated from the Western Australia Academy of Performing Arts with a Bachelor of Arts in 2018 and has performed through the USA, UK, Taiwan and across Australia. She has always held an interest in the moving body, and this is part of what drove her to complete her diploma of remedial massage in early 2020.

Makira enjoys working with people and bodies of all different kinds. She has a particular interest in treating headaches and neck pain, however enjoys working across the whole body, assisting with general health and wellbeing through her use of trigger point therapy, myofascial release, active and assisted stretching, gentle joint mobilisation, dry needling, and myofascial cupping. Her favourite style blends remedial based modalities with a relaxation based flow, however she also enjoys delivering a targeted – and at times, firm – treatment aiming to reduce pain and improve physical function. Additionally, Makira is currently exploring training options related to massage for cerebral palsy.

Outside of the clinic, Makira works as a Sports Therapist for the AFL umpires, and is currently studying a Bachelor of Occupational Therapy.
