Where are we located

We are located in Brisbane, Queensland, Australia. Currently we don't operate in any other states (or countries :-)

What kind of people work as seated chair massage therapists?

Not everyone who works as a seated chair massage therapist is necessarily making massage their career. Some therapists are studying other modalities such as naturopathy, physiotherapy, personal training etc. Others work solely as massage therapists. Knead Workplace Massage employs contractors, which means that you work for yourself as well as working for us. As a contractor you must obtain your own ABN(supplied by the tax department) and public liability insurance.

If you currently don't have either of these things DON'T WORRY if you are successful and have the necessary level of qualifications we can help you to sort out the details.

What level of qualifications do you need?

We will accept people who are currently training in massage or are just about to begin as well as therapists with a certificate in massage. This can be in any form of massage such as Swedish, Thai, Ka Huna, Therapeutic etc. You are not required to have Certificate Four, however if you are studying this it will be viewed favourably.

Training

Your training includes a Certificate in Seated Chair Massage from the International Massage Therapy Academy (IMTA). a Registered Training Organisation. This training allows you to gain Public Liability Insurance. There is a training fee of $250. Why do we charge the training fee? We are a small company (but growing!!) and simply don't have the resources or desire to train people just to have them leave and take their excellent new found skills with them. Our chair massage training through IMTA normally costs $350. Our training program is very comprehensive and you will be trained in

• Chair Massage Techniques
• Workplace Health and Safety
• Privacy & Confidentiality
• Effective Screening
• Client Procedures

This training will give you another excellent skill that you can use in your massage business for many years to come. Chair massage is a very under utilised marketing tool and having effective skills in this area gives you an edge over many other therapists.

Our clients are important to us, and we want to provide them with continuity in their therapist. If you have to invest some time and money initially to gain skills then it demonstrates that you have commitment. We are happy to arrange for this training fee to be paid off in the first month of work.
