Are You Ready To Start Your Professional Massage Career with IMTA?

The Certificate IV in Massage (HLT40302) is the first level of government recognised study in Massage. This is considered an entry level qualification to the massage industry. The primary aim is to prepare students for work as competent Massage Therapists within the health sector. This course is Centrelink Approved.

The full time course runs over 12 weeks (class contact) with an additional 12 weeks for completion of assessments or 24 weeks part-time (class contact) also with an additional 12 weeks for completion of assessments. The course covers 6 IMTA modules:

Fundamentals of Massage
Human Body
Massage Clinic
Clinic Business and Management
Complementary Therapies and Alternative techniques
First Aid

Fundamentals of massage - this subject covers the foundations of your course. The building blocks for creating a solid setting for your future career, from communication skills and professional ehtics to your clinic operations and client assessments.

Human Body - this is the essence of your craft. Knowing how your client's body works is the basis of your massage skills.

Massage Clinic - In our fully operational clinic, students have the opportunity to utilise and develop all aspects of their Massage and business skills.

Clinic Business and Management - The What's Why's and How's! The two essential components to be a successful massage therapist are excellent practical skills and sound business knowledge.

Complementary Therapies and Alternative Techniques - develop a well rounded understanding of additional massage treatments and techniques.

First Aid - Senior first aid course conducted by Life International Training Pty Ltd on behalf on IMTA.

On completion of the Certificate 4 in Massage you will be able to join recognised Massage Associations and receive all the professional benefits aligned with this. You will qualify for a Health Fund Provider Number which means that clients from certain funds will be able to receive health fund rebates after receiving treatment from you. Certificate 4 creates a solid foundation for your professional massage career and allows you to build upon your knowledge by embarking on the Diploma of Remedial Massage.

What is the cost of the Certificate Four?

Does the cost include all course materials or are these extra?

All course materials except notebooks are included in the price. When shopping around for a massage course be sure to find out what the added extras are. Costs for text books and doing clinics can add a considerable amount to the cost of a course.

Do you have a payment system?

Yes we have a pay up front or pay over six months installments option.

Do you recognise any prior learning in the industry?

We are willing to consider prior learning and experience. Each situation is considered on a case by case basis and there is a cost involved. The reason we charge is that we have to determine where and how your acquired knowledge fits into the required framework.

Do you offer any ongoing support?

Yes we offer a support system providing networking opportunites and are liasing with various massage employers to provide students with relevant industry opportunities.

We provide full support while you are away from the academy...just a call or email will put you immediately in touch with your lecturer.

What form does assessment take?

There are no exams. Yes you have read correctly! You are assessed as you work your way through the course with in class questions, workshops, assignments and practical evaluations within the fully operational student clinic.

Who will be our trainers?

Peter Mar is a Fellow of the Australian Natural Therapists Association and is an ANTA accredited practitioner in Remedial Therapy, Aromatherapy, Acupuncture and Oriental Remedial Therapy. He also holds a Diploma in Swedish Massage.

He is a registered Nurse in Queensland and New South Wales, having completed a Diploma in Applied Science through QUT.

With over 20 years massage experience and known professionally as the "Best Masseur in Town" Peter is also a certified trainer and assessor.
