Pathway to the Present

I grew up in a family of Chinese Medicine Practitioners. My father is a Traditional Chinese Medicine Practitioner (TCM) and he imparted valuable knowledge to me. I became interested in TCM after knowing my father’s story. He was suffering from meningitis (brain inflammation) when he was a teenager. His temperature was so high that the Western hospital would not treat him and so my grandmother in desperation turned to TCM for help. He survived with the help of Traditional Chinese Medicine and that set him on a course to become a practitioner.

The first time I was treated with Chinese medicine I was 10 years old. I woke up with wry neck. I couldn’t move my neck to the front and it was very painful. My mum had prepared Chinese herbal decoctions, and after just one herb decoction my neck was able to rotate back to front.

Seeing Chinese medicine doctors for general health problems is normal for me or people in my country (Taiwan). However, when I moved to Australia, I found there were not many options for finding a Chinese Medicine Practitioner; therefore, I decided to learn Chinese Medicine.

I completed a 3 year acupuncture course in Australia, however, I felt that there was certain knowledge missing and so I decide to go back to my hometown “Taiwan” to continue my study. I spent another 5 years to learn more about Chinese Medicine and I also practiced in a Chinese Medicine Clinic at the same time. The clinic treated an average of 60 patients a day, which gave me a wide base of experience.

After completing 8 years of study and 5 years of work experience with very knowledgeable Chinese Medicine Practitioners I felt I was ready to open my own practice. I opened Golden Chinese Medicine Clinic in 2009.

What is your treatment like? Who would benefit from them?

Your initial consultation involves reviewing your health history, taking notes on your current situation and the use of Chinese Medicine Diagnostic skills such as patient observation, questioning, tongue analysis and pulse check. Treatment can involve Chinese herbs, Acupuncture, dietary advice and recommendations and/or scrapping and moxibustion.

I combine acupuncture, Chinese Herbs, Gua Sha (Scrapping), Cupping, lifestyle and diet advice as needed, to treat individual circumstances. Traditional Chinese Medicine focuses on treating the client as a whole, not just individual symptoms and consequently we look at your life with the bigger picture in mind.

TCM can treat many conditions from musculo-sketal issues such as nerve pain, tendonitis and muscle injuries, womens health such as fertility and menopause, craving and addiction, hormonal imbalance, headaches and migraines and much more. Clients who are looking for a natural and holistic alternative to drugs and surgery should consider TCM along with anyone who has struggled to find the answer to their health issues.

What do I Love about Chinese Medicine and Being a Chinese Medicine practitioner?

For me, my Goal is to increase the awareness, understanding and use of “Traditional Chinese Medicine” in Australia. I would like to see people beginning to understand the concept of Traditional Chinese Medicine which is about how to reach optimal health via lifestyle and diet advice and changes.

I love the moment when a patient says to me: “It’s amazing, that Chinese Medicine can also help with common cold!!!”, “I don’t have any pain” or “Thank you Eva, I’m feeling so much better”.

Being a Chinese Medicine practitioner, my goal is to show people in Australia, traditional Chinese Medicine is not just acupuncture, or just for muscle-tendon’s problems, it can also deal with many other health issues and has something to offer everybody.
